Why Puerto Rico, why now

Basketball in Puerto Rico is a year-round language.

Puerto Rico's youth sports infrastructure has been chronically underfunded — a situation made worse by Hurricane Maria, Hurricane Fiona, and the ongoing fiscal crisis. The courts the kids love to play on are cracked, unlit, half-forgotten. They keep playing anyway.

Basketball is woven into the cultural fabric of the island. Building infrastructure for Puerto Rican youth, in their own communities, alongside Puerto Rican creators, meets the moment.

The court itself

Built, painted, lit, reopened.

A refurbished, artist-designed basketball court in a Puerto Rican community. Resurfaced. Painted. Lit. Fenced where needed. The physical home for everything that happens next.

The artist commission is the foundation's signature: BE REMARKABLE painted across the floor, locally-designed touches around the perimeter, a court that announces itself the moment a kid walks up.

The year-round program

The court is not a one-day opening.

The court hosts free, locally-led basketball programming every week of the year — six recurring rhythms that keep the space alive between the marquee event.

Every Saturday

Free coached clinics

Skills clinics for kids ages 8–16, run by a paid local head coach. Spanish-first programming, locally led, same coach every week so kids build through real relationship.

Mon · Wed · Fri

Open court hours

Supervised free play after school, 4–6 pm. Volunteer assistants on hand. The court the kids never stopped playing on — now safe, lit, and theirs.

Once a month

Guest Coach Day

A PR college player, BSN pro, or US Latino athlete drops in to run a specialty clinic — shooting, ball-handling, defense, mental game.

Once a month

Creator Visit Day

A PR creator films a Reel or TikTok with the kids — basketball trick shots, lifestyle content, music collabs. The court becomes a creator destination, not just a building.

Mid-summer

Local mini-tournament

Bracket play for the kids who trained all spring. Trophies. A live audience. A taste of what the annual game feels like.

Annual

College prep + Cultural day

One workshop a year on basketball as a college pathway. One community day blending basketball, bomba, salsa, and local food. Sports as the door, culture as the room.

One paid local head coach anchors it all. Volunteer assistants, guest coaches, and monthly creator visits build the constellation around the coach. Sustainable, locally-rooted, replicable.

The headline event

The BR Courts PR Game.

Once a year, the court hosts the marquee event of the foundation's calendar: a real basketball game played by elite creator-athletes, streetball legends, and PR talent — for the cause, for the kids, and for the cameras.

Morning

Kid clinics with the creators

The kids who trained at the court all year play alongside the visiting creators in pre-game clinics. The peak moment of the year for the kids.

Afternoon

Community festivities

Local food, music, family activations on the court grounds. The whole community at the court for the day.

Evening

The main game

Creator-athletes vs. PR streetball talent. Real basketball, played hard, for the cause. Livestreamed and amplified across every creator's channels.

After

Meet-and-greets

Post-game signings, photo ops, and content with the kids who came to watch. The cycle that makes them want to come back next year.

The roster brings together US Latino and PR-tied creator-athletes, BSN talent, and headlining names from the streetball world.

The annual game raises the year's operating budget. The year-round program creates the story the game caps.

Where it happens

Rooted in a Puerto Rican community.

The specific town and barrio is finalized in partnership with local community leaders, the municipal recreation department, and the families whose kids will play there every week. We're announcing once the partnership is locked.

The criteria: a community where the demand is highest, the local infrastructure is willing, and the kids show up no matter what.
